Methodology
I use the most appropriate methods to get the job done. Sometimes you need to cut some corners and use just enough process to deliver the job. Other times it’s important to be more rigorous and stick by principles to save heart ache and pain further down the line.
It’s all a question of judgment and communication. Talking through the options, making a combined decision and making sure everyone knows what their role is and what is expected of them. Sounds easy, and it is as long as it’s dealt with up front.
While IA is a maturing practice, it still has to move to keep up with moving technologies and working practices. Agile development practices and using higher fidelity prototypes earlier in the process are part and parcel of working with more complex rich internet applications (RIAs) and web 2.0 features. I embrace these methods and like to adapt to new styles and approaches. I can help advise on the pros and cons of different approaches and identify the right one to use.
